Spell for the end of this world and the beginning of a better one evoking the ghosts of a radder past (with a big shout out to Derek Walcott) for people who don’t know Brixton.

I envisaged this game for TWINE to be a rite of passage for gentrifying newcomers to Brixton so that they respect the heritage. It's tiny. It doesn't even begin to encompass the huge heritage

of social justice warriors, culture changers, and artists that shaped Brixton’s revent past. I made it because as someone who’s recently moed to Brixton - by default,I guess, a gentrifier - BUT who used to hang out here in the 1990s - shoutout to the Mambo Inn- shoutout to the residents of LCHT - it has changed a lot and has divided itself into two distinct places that share geography but nothing else.

It was developed by Coney as part of their Mixtape of Adventures series but it hasn’t been released yet ,and the game as it stands is much smaller than the original game I envidaged, so I’m just putting it out here. If you work with Twine and want to make it with me, shout me. 

This is a game to be performed in the late afternoon on a day when it is the new moon.

The game will have 12 iterations, on each new moon for a year. (or let’s start with 6 months maybe).

The spell for the end of the new world and the beginning of a better (with a shoutout to Derek Walcott) one will be a combination of all the spells that people have created when playing this adventure.

The game must be performed when the shops mentioned in the game are still open, so around 4-5pm, when it’s getting dark and vibey.

When people book a ticket for the adventure, they will be sent a badge to wear and instructions about where and when to assemble.

Hi.

Thanks for coming through. This is a guided adventure around a very small area of Brixton in which you will help us create a spell for the end of this world and the beginning of the next one. We certainly need a new world order. We’ve set some specific times to do this adventure, and we’re hoping that you will link with some other adventurers along the way. You will all be identifiable by your badges. You might want to make friends. You might want to say your spells together. You might be more of a lone wolf. That’s cool too. You do you.

I hope you’re wearing comfy shoes and have water, a bit of cash or a contactless card on you.
